On 12 January 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, leaving its capital Port au Prince devastated. About 220,000 people were reportedly killed, among them 102 United Nations staff.

At that time, there were not enough places for people to stay, so they divided the major roads into two parts:

  1. The first road was reserved for vehicles.

  2. The second road was for people to sleep during the night, even babies.

God is so good, no rain at that time.

Through a series of events, I was introduced to the ministry of Mission Discovery. For many months, we did extensive ministry together in the many makeshift tent cities scattered throughout Port au Prince, conducting medical clinics, supporting orphanages and schools, and providing clean water and food.

One day, in 2013, after a full day of ministry at an orphanage, we took a detour down a dusty road to visit a community known as Onaville. With two buses filled with medical professionals and supplies we visited a particular area deep in the community. What we observed once we came to a stop broke our hearts but deeply impacted a journey that continues to this day.

No access to clean water

No power

No means of transportation

No medical center

No trees

After praying, we had a vision, while at the same time, declaring Onaville is GREEN, so the movement since that time has been called "Onaville Green Ministry.”

A few days later, we purchased large amounts of rice, beans, buckets of oil, and boxes of fish. We passed them out to all those who were in need. Each family had food for two or three weeks according to the number of people in the family.

This was the beginning of God using the Onaville Green Ministry to minister to the people of Onaville, Haiti. - Pastor Noel Gespere
